one of my all-time favorite rock stars

The Brand New Life at Shakori Hills!

What happens when you put Marley’s favorite band in the lineup of her favorite music festival? Pure ecstasy - literally.  I was dancing so hard during “Al Quacka” that a woman approached me and asked (quite nicely) “are you on ecstasy?” I replied, “no ma’am, I just really love this song!”

This was the Brand New Life’s last show in North Carolina before their big move to NYC.  I will miss them terribly but I’m so excited for the band to move to a big city with a much bigger music scene.  And it won’t be long before I make a trip up there to see them…

The Brand New Life tearing it up at Tate Street

Despite the gloomy weather, the Brand New Life still rocked the Tate Street Festival last weekend. It didn’t take long for folks to abandon their umbrellas and start dancing in the rain.  Great show and amazing energy, as always.  Love these boys so much.

BNL at the Pinhook

The Brand New Life played another fabulous show at the Pinhook last night.  Look at how happy Mr. Seth Barden is!

The Brand New Life at the Pinhook

The boys played another great show at the Pinhook on Friday night. I love Chapel Hill but it’s nice to change it up and party in the Bull City every now and then.  Much fun had by all.

I see you Seth!

The Brand New Life played a great show at Cat’s Cradle last night.  They sounded so good!  Stepping it up to a whole new level - I’m very proud of them.  I was special enough to get on the guest list and then get backstage so I snapped this through a split in the black curtains.  love you and your music Mr. Barden.

I had a really hard time picking out one photo (of the 700 that I took this past weekend) to visually illustrate the magic of the most recent Shakori Hills music festival.  I’ve been to the festival 11 or 12 times now and it never gets old.  We had an AMAZING weekend.

Pictured here is Walter Francourt of the Brand New Life.  They rocked so hard on both Thursday night and Friday.
